Official minutes of planning and zoning meetings (including certified zoning and subdivision plans, petitions, correspondence, and, in some cases, photographs), interim minutes of planning and zoning meetings and of meetings of the planning advisory committee, and official publications of the Commission and its staff. Included in the publications are surveys and reports on a variety of planning and zoning topics and projects, as well as zoning ordinances, capital budget documents, and various operational plans. Aerial photographs of the city made under contract to the Commission in 1946, 1960, and 1975 are also included in these records.

Created as the City Planning and Zoning Commission in 1923, the agency was authorized to conduct planning studies, to divide the City into zones on the basis of land use, and to make recommendations on planning matters to the City Council.
